You may have heard about our plan to get the ‘asperatus’ cloud recognized as an official cloud classification. Photographs of this formation have been sent in by members and visitors over the years. We’ve always felt it doesn’t really fit within the existing cloud names, and hence the need for a new variety. Asperatus means ‘roughened’ in Latin, which seemed appropriate since it looks to us like a choppy sea.
